You don't need a huge bag of supplies to be prepared for your period at netball. A few small things can help if your period starts unexpectedly, you need to change a product or your kit gets stained.
Your small period kit
- A couple of period products you know how to use.
- Spare underwear.
- Spare shorts or other suitable kit, if you have them.
- A small sealable bag for stained or reusable items.
- Tissues and access to handwashing facilities.
- A water bottle and a snack for a long training or match day.
Use the products that work for you. You do not need to pack tampons, cups or anything you aren't comfortable using.
Before you leave home
Check your bag, make sure you have enough supplies for the time you're away and put them somewhere easy to reach. If your period is due soon, a little extra preparation may feel reassuring. If your periods are unpredictable, that's okay too.
During a tournament
Long netball days can include several matches, travel and waiting between games. Take opportunities to eat, drink, rest and visit the toilet between fixtures. Know who to approach if you need help finding facilities or spare kit.
What if you forget everything?
Ask a parent, carer, coach or team manager quietly. Clubs can make this easier by keeping a small emergency kit available. Needing help does not mean you were unprepared or careless.
Remember
The best period kit is a simple one that makes you feel ready to enjoy netball.
