Puberty can change how your body looks and feels. You might notice breast growth, different shapes, periods or new worries about changing around teammates. Everyone develops at their own pace, and there is no one kind of netball body.
Kit should help you play
Some teams wear dresses, some wear skirts or shorts, and some have different options. What matters is being able to move comfortably and feel confident. If your kit feels too tight, rides up or makes you self-conscious about period products, ask whether there is another permitted size or style.
A supportive sports bra can make jumping and running more comfortable if you need one. Choose comfort and fit rather than comparing yourself to teammates.
Worried that people can see your period product?
Most products are designed to be worn discreetly. Well-fitting underwear or a suitable layer under your kit may help you feel more secure, within your club's rules. Try your chosen combination while moving around before an important match.
Privacy matters
You can ask for a private changing area or a little more time. Nobody should comment on your body, compare your development with anyone else's or pressure you to discuss your period publicly.
Speak up if something does not feel right
If your kit is uncomfortable or someone makes upsetting comments, talk to a trusted adult, coach or club welfare contact. You deserve to enjoy netball without feeling ashamed of the way your body is changing.
Remember
Your body is growing, and netball belongs to you at every stage of that change.
