Important: This resource is for education and preparation only. If you are worried, speak to a healthcare professional or trusted adult.

You do not need perfect words

It is okay to start simply: “I need help with my period,” “I am in pain,” or “Can I talk to you about something private?”

If you feel embarrassed

Writing a note or message can make it easier. You could say: “I feel awkward saying this, but I need some support.”

If pain is affecting school

Try: “My period pain is making it hard to concentrate and I need help managing it at school.”

If you are not listened to

You can ask another trusted adult, school nurse, family member or healthcare professional. Your symptoms matter.
